Robert D. Gualano, 80, of Newington, husband of Joanne (Skoronski) Gualano, entered into Eternal Rest on Monday, November 17, 2014 after courageously battling a long illness, surrounded by his family. Born in New Britain on August 12, 1934, he was the son of the late Ciro and Ruth (Zoppino) Gualano. Robert proudly served our country in the United States Army as Private First Class. He retired from Pitney Bowes as a Field Service Technician for almost 40 years, a career he loved and his customers loved him. A faithful servant of the Lord, he was a parishioner of The Church of The Holy Spirit, Newington and Saint Ann’s Church, New Britain. Bobby, as his friends called him, possessed a wonderful, outgoing personality. He had the gift of gab and could easily strike up a conversation and bring out the best in those he met. He especially loved to talk about the “old days” and his favorite baseball team, The Boston Red Sox. He took pride in taking care of his yard. He was a devoted husband and father, and always unselfishly put his family first, who will miss him dearly. He was a man of strength and stability, and always said with a smile, “If you need me, I’ll be around.”- Bobby G. He is survived by his loving family, his wife of 55 years, Joanne (Skoronski) Gualano, his son, Darrin Gualano and his daughter Diana Gualano. He is also survived by his brother, Richard Gualano and two sisters Mary Gwara and Lucille Gualano, as well as many nieces and nephews. Robert was predeceased by a sister, Jean Nadonly and two brothers Vincent Gualano and Louis Gualano. Today we rejoice in the knowledge he is forever at home with the Lord. “Amen I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise.” Luke 23:40.
