Bob Montoya passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 surrounded by loved ones. Bob was born in Flagstaff to Paul and Faye Montoya on September 9th, 1945.Bob was a third generation resident of Flagstaff and a graduate of Northern Arizona University.

Bob is known as a committed member of the Flagstaff community and has touched the lives of many people. He was inducted into NAU’s Alumni and Faculty Hall of Fame in 2006 for his local business accomplishments and his longstanding contributions to the Flagstaff community. While attending NAU, Bob founded Bob’s Shamrock Service Station, U-Haul Moving Center & Goodyear Tire Store. In 1970 he founded Sun Mountain Real Estate and Development, which enabled him to play an important role in developing and restoring many beautiful buildings in the Flagstaff area.

Bob also served on many influential boards and commissions, most recently for Northern Arizona Healthcare and the Arizona Department of Transportation. He took pride in volunteering his time to help others, and was thoroughly committed to improving the healthcare and the built environment of the town he loved dearly. In his down time, he enjoyed hiking with his wife, Linda, and playing golf at both Aspen Valley and the Village of Oak Creek Golf Clubs.

Bob is survived by his wife and friend Linda, his children Ryan, Meg and David to whom he was a spirited mentor, and his loving brothers and sister, Ernie (Kathy), Jerry (Teresa), and Veronica (Henry), along with many nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
