Robert (Boob) Lee Gildea passed away peacefully February 5 2022. Bob always referred to himself as Bob spelled with two O’s.
He was born on Jan 18, 1929 in Boone, Iowa to Noah L. and Ruby S. Gildea where they lived until moving to Ogden Utah in 1939. He was 10.
In 1946 at age 17, he began his 44-year career with the Union Pacific Railroad. He graduated from Ogden High School in 1947. He sang in Barber Shop Quartets since age 12. He was a member of a barbershop quartet called the Melody-Lads, they sang for various events. He married H. Marie Knight on Oct 17, 1948, at the First Baptist Church in Ogden. They raised four children.
He and Marie transferred to North Platte Nebraska January 1972 after railroad operations ceased in Ogden. They returned to Ogden after he retired in 1990.
His parents Noah L Gildea and Ruby Snowgren Gildea and his loving wife Marie precede him in death. Bob leaves behind four children Stephen R. (Judy), Kathryn D. Webster (Bill), David L. (Katherine), and Jacquelyn M. Robins (Marc). Nine Grandchildren, 15 Great grandchildren and four Great Great grandchildren.
