Robert “Bob” L. Sharp, 87, of Johnston, IA, passed away on Monday, September 20, 2021, at his home in Johnston surround by his family.
Robert was born November 9, 1933, in Des Moines, IA son of William B. and Zora (Thompson) Sharp. He received his education in Des Moines and graduated from North High School in 1952.
On February 8, 1985, he married Margaret Helen Harty and they made their home in the Des Moines area all their married life. Robert owned and operated Robert Sharp Construction Company serving as his own General Contractor in both commercial and residential construction projects.
On July 23, 1985, he was a heart recipient through the University of Minnesota. He was a good steward of the gifted heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents and eleven brothers and sisters.
Robert is survived by his loving wife Helen, two sons, Mark Sharp of Johnston, IA, and Robert (Michiko) Sharp of San Diego, CA, and three grandchildren, Mark Jr., Bobby, and Anna, and a great grandchild on the way.
Visitation will be held Monday, September 27, 2021, from noon to 1 p.m. at the Iles Westover Chapel followed by a 1:30 p.m. Graveside Service at the Chapel Hill Gardens Cemetery in Urbandale.
Memorial may be directed to the University of Minnesota Heart Transplant Program or Unity Home Care and Hospice.
