Robert A. Davidson, age 76 years, of Plymouth, passed away Saturday, January 29, 2022, at his home. He was the husband of Diane (Ippolito) Davidson, and the son of the late Frederick and Alice (Seeley) Davidson. Born in Long Branch, New Jersey on March 7, 1945, he attended Lehigh University and was a graduate of William Patterson University where he studied engineering and finance. Bob owned and ran a private consulting company, Professional Data Services, where he designed product distribution systems for multiple businesses – including Ocean Spray. Bob, a long time New Jersey resident, moved to Plymouth ten years ago following his retirement. Bob loved cars, motorcycles and planes, especially red ones. Bob had his commercial pilot’s license and spent his early 20’s flying small planes for private charters in California. Later in life, he owned several Harley-Davidson motorcycles and loved going for long rides on a nice day. His shiny red car was washed the moment it got a spot of dirt on had a passion for technology and was fascinated by the rapid pace of change. Bob’s fascination with technology was on display when he would comment about a modern laptop’s size and capability and compare it to his first computer – something that was less powerful and filled an entire room. He enjoyed challenging himself to keep up with the most recent trends and was always trying new things at home, sometimes causing frustration for Diane who says she couldn’t even figure out how to work the fancy remote. Bob loved to travel, both with his family and with his lifelong friends, Fred and Warren. The Jersey Shore was one of his favorite destinations. Bob, Fred, and Warren shared many misadventures and almost as many beers together over the years. Bob’s occasionally gruff exterior hid a warm and generous heart. He loved his family and friends and always put them first. He teased his sisters, Jill and Eileen, and his nieces and nephews whenever he had the opportunity. Despite that, his sisters still made him cookies every Christmas. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and a proud provider of all the finer things in life. He had a seemingly endless supply of champagne and loved any excuse to celebrate. He was full of strong opinions, laughter, and love. He is survived by Diane, his wife of 52-years, and his two sisters: Eileen Burt and her husband Ted of North Falmouth, and Jill Lane and her husband Charlie of Rutland, Vermont. He is also survived by his two daughters: Suzanne Davidson and her husband Jeff Sullivan of Quincy, and Aimee Durbin and her husband Scott of San Francisco and his beloved grandchildren, Miles and Libby. He was a cherished friend, brother-in-law, and uncle.
