Long time Perry Township resident, Robert A. Bowles, died  at home in his sleep September 20th. Born in 1926, to Ben and Hazel Bowles of Irvington, Bob graduated from Howe High School, then served in the army and worked at the Pentagon. After the war he attended Butler University, married Virginia Reese, and moved to Albuquerque to attend the University of New Mexico. After graduating in 1949 he moved back to Indianapolis and worked for Jefferson National Life Insurance Company. During the Korean War he served in the Air Force at Fort Benning, Georgia. He then resumed his career at Jefferson National; he attained his CLU and rose to the position of an executive officer. He retired after 37 years and enjoyed his hobbies, golf and tennis, and trips to Hawaii.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Virginia Reese Bowles, his brother Bill, and his daughter Ginny Lee.
