Robbie J. Segars went home to Jesus on Oct. 28, 2020 at age 88.

Robbie was born to Claude W. and Beulah Downey on Dec. 23 in Jean, Texas.  Her mother passed away soon after her birth.  As a child, she was raised on a farm in Jean by her paternal grandparents Albert and Lillie Watson, Aunt Bernice and Uncle Coy.  She also spent time during her youth with her Dad, Step-Mother Mary and brother C.W. Downey, Jr.

Robbie met her husband, Kenneth Segars in Graham, Texas, where they married on Nov. 24, 1949 and went on to have 1 son, Michael Segars.  Soon after they married Ken was deployed to Korea.  After his return, they moved to Houston, Texas where their son Michael was born and Ken pursued a degree in Electrical Engineering.  After Ken’s graduation they moved all over west Texas with the oilfield and Robbie had little trouble making friends wherever they lived.  She was a proud homemaker and enjoyed entertaining friends and family.  After several years of traveling, they settled in Hobbs, New Mexico where she stayed busy volunteering and served as a Pink Lady for many years.

Robbie was very active at Crosswinds Community Church (formerly Northside Baptist) where she and Ken served as Sunday School teachers for many years.  Robbie’s true passion was to serve others by helping in the kitchen for special occasions, especially Operation Homefront.  She loved supporting the workers as they went out and worked so hard to help others with home projects.

In addition to being a dedicated and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Robbie also loved her church family. She enjoyed singing in the choir, performing with a special group called the Sistren, and traveling with the close friends she made along the way. Throughout her entire life, she held an unwavering faith in God, which she shared with those who surrounded her.

Robbie was proceeded in death by husband Ken, her brother C.W. Downey, Jr., her parents and several aunts and uncles.

She is survived by her son Michael and wife Sandi Segars, two grandchildren: Kristal Morin and husband Aaron, Matt Segars and wife Alex, and four great-grandchildren: Isabella Morin, Sophia Morin, Graham Segars and Rhett Segars.
