On March 29, 2009, surrounded by loved ones after a courageous battle with cancer. Of Audubon, NJ, age 60 years.Beloved wife of James Perkins. Dear mother of David, Jeffrey and Elise Perkins. Daughter of the late Leo and Anna Wade of Burlington, NJ. Sister of Anne Ruzic, Mary Sanko, John, Bill, Fran, Joe, Tom and the late Leo Wade. She is also survived by 37 nieces and nephews.Mrs. Perkins was an accomplished academic, who had a Master’s Degree in both Spanish and English. She also was awarded a National Endowment for the Humanities grant. She enjoyed a 37 year career as a professor at Camden County College during which time she authored a published textbook and helped pioneer online teaching there.She was also a historian and educator on the Irish Famine. As a member of the American Conference of Irish Studies, she researched Irish Famine memorials. For her body of scholastic work, she was included in Who’s Who in America 2008.Mrs. Perkins also had a love of culture and languages, which led her to travel extensively throughout the world and visit dozens of countries. She was an avid genealogist, who traced her family’s roots back generations. She loved music and was a member of the Diocesans choir of Camden County.
