Rita S. Jones, 99, of Bristol, widow of Harold F. Jones Sr., died Friday, February 23, 2007, at Sheriden Woods Health Center. Rita was born March 27, 1907, in Brockton, MA, a daughter of the late George and Maud (Johnson) Smith Staples.
Rita moved to Bristol in 1925 where she raised sixteen children. Rita was retired from the Stanley Works of New Britain and worked part time as a secretary for Fletcher’s Plumbing and Heating.
Rita is survived by 8 sons and their spouses, Theodore “Teddy” and June Jones of LaBelle, FL, Harold Jones Jr. of Indiantown, FL, Park and Frances Jones of Jacksonville, FL, Jay J. Jones of Bristol, George and Kathleen Jones of Bristol, James “Chip” Jones of Bristol, Rodney and Susan Jones of Griswold, and Bruce and Kim Jones of Graham, NC, 4 daughters and their spouses, Phyllis Taylor of Forestville, Maud and Alan Murray of Bradenton, FL, Patricia and Joe Robichaud of Mechanic Falls, ME, and Jean Billington of Bristol, 36 grandchildren, Gayle St. John, Susan Burton, Theodore and Mark Jones, Darlene Jones Milburn, Dale Taylor, Cindy MacDonald, Debby Bechert, Ronald Neumann, Robin Malsheske, Darcy Brown, Thomas Jones, Sterling Jones, Curtis Jones, Pamela Henry, Melissa Hulvey, John Mule ,Judi Hills, Jill Hart, Gary Keene, Carrie Keene, Marilyn Robichaud, Kim Bechert, Karen Johnson, Michael and Christopher Jones, Tracy Mariani, Dawn Emanuele, Todd Jones, Scott Jones, Jamie Pelletier, Kellie Labieniec, Brian and Kristi Jones, Amanda Bonaker, and Lindsay Graham, 51 Great grandchildren, and 30 great great grandchildren.
