Rita (Mangine) Kondracky, of Cromwell, died peacefully on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at The Hearth at Tuxis Pond in Madison. Rita was born in Middletown, the daughter of the late Alexander and Rose (Zampini) Mangine.
Rita was the first woman in Middletown to volunteer and serve as a marine during World War II. After the war, she worked for the state of Connecticut and was elected to Cromwell’s Board of Education, serving as Chairwoman. Upon retiring, she volunteered at Middlesex Hospital.
