Rita DiGiuseppantonio (nee DiMichele) , 87, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, January 13, 2022. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. Rita was born and raised in Castellalto, Province of Teramo, Abbruzzo, Italy. She came to the United States in 1956 with her father and brother, to see if moving to the US from Italy would be the best for their family. She returned to Italy in 1957 for her marriage to Giuseppe, and together they moved to the US as young newlyweds along with Rita’s mother and two of her sisters. They settled on Copley Road in Upper Darby. Rita loved to share her experiences going back and forth between Italy and the US via boat!Rita began working at the Daroff clothing factory, where she made many life-long friends, many of whom were also Italian immigrants. Rita became a full-time homemaker when she started her family. She took the title homemaker to a whole new level! She made hundreds of jarred homemade gravy, was a master pasta maker, pizza maker, cook, baker, hostess, and her house far surpassed any white glove test! She enjoyed volunteering at St. Alice School during lunch, and attended many basketball games. Rita didn’t let returning to the workforce, sewing and applying appliques for mummers’ costumes and wedding gowns, interfere with her superior homemaking had a wonderful laugh and her beautiful smile touched everyone’s heart. She would do anything for anyone. In addition to her love of cooking and baking, she enjoyed entertaining guests and playing cards with family & friends. Her greatest love was being with her grandchildren and great will be dearly missed. She had an extremely caring and kind heart. Predeceased by her husband Giuseppe. She is survived by her loving children Joanne DeVito (Steve), Joseph DiGiuseppantonio, Linda Genther (Chris); her adoring grandchildren Steven, Matthew, Christina, Zachary, Eric; her great grandchildren Emma, Vincenzo; her sister Elda Galante (John), sister-in-law Josephine DiMichele, brother-in-law Sam Dioguardi, and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, Giovina & Sabatino DiMichele, her siblings Maria Vannucci, Nereo DiMichele, Ada Dioguardi, and her great grandchildren Domenico & Mia.
