.A native of Bastrop, LA, he was a Boiler Maker/Welder by trade, and served as Deacon and Sunday School Teacher at Liberty Landmark Missionary Baptist Church. Ricky joined the US Army as an Airborne Ranger and was deployed to Germany. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and spending time with his family. He was an encouragement to everyone who crossed his path and gave his best effort in everything he did. He was preceded in death by his father, Cecil Leon Whitaker; brother, Anthony Glen to cherish his memory are his loving wife of over 46 wonderful years, Patsy Gail Whitaker; daughters, Angela Nicole Wattigney and husband Kelly, Kimberly Louann Kolaprath; son, Ricky Glen Whitaker and wife Daisy; grandchildren, Austin Lee Burmaster, Kamran Reese Kolaprath, Ajay Akarsh Kolaprath, Sophie Marie Whitaker, and Rex Leon Whitaker; mother, Annie Lee Whitaker; brother, Philip Whitaker and wife Kelly; sister, Patricia Lewis; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and loved ones.
