Rickie Sue Holt, 62, of Elkhart, passed away Saturday, March 15, at Elkhart General Hospital after a recent illness.

She was born Nov. 7, 1951, in Elkhart to Charles Roll and Viola Mae (McKesson).

Survivors include two daughters, Leanne Hankins and Angela Geschke, both of Elkhart; mother Viola Mae Hatfield of Elkhart; stepson Curtis Holt of Elkhart; two sisters, Shirley (Max) Kintigh of Goshen and Jackie Osborn of Mishawaka; two brothers, Jack (Kim) Bowman of South Bend and Allen (Jackie) Bowman of Luther, Okla.; 13 grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leamon “Lee” Holt, in 2011 and her son, Donald Patrick Holt, in 2000.

Rickie had a second “family” where she was employed at Faries-McMeekan Inc. in Elkhart, where she worked since 1974, and worked until her cancer was diagnosed recently. She took a few years off from her work as a welder to care for children in her home during the late 1980s.

Rickie enjoyed spending time with her family, and enjoyed dining out, going to the casino, shopping and traveling. While she enjoyed buying lottery tickets and taking chances at the casino, she knew her real jackpot was won daily when she spent time with her grandchildren.
