Richard Zarbock, 94, of Troutman, passed away on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Gordon Hospice House.

He was born on August 8, 1922 in Cleveland, OH to the late William and Flora Zarbock. In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ruth Davis Zarbock, on December 25, 2011.

He is survived by his son, Buzz Zarbock (Marti) of Clemmons; daughter, Bow Murdock of Troutman; grandchildren, Hannah Welcher (Robby), Emily Reynolds (Troy) Kati Dunn (Drew) Kristi Wright (James) and Will Zarbock (Jessica) and eleven great grandchildren.

Richard worked as a physical therapist for over sixty years and thoroughly loved his job. He was a vicious supporter of his alumni Duke University, where he received his Master’s Degree. Throughout his career, he worked at the Children’s Hospital in West Virginia, the VA Hospital, Goodwill Industries, Forsyth Hospital, and Iredell Memorial. Richard was also a veteran of the United States Air Force and fought in WWII.

Richard will be remembered for having 94 years of infinite love for his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. His family was his pride. He knew no stranger. A strong handshake and a smile on his face. “Did ya get enough to eat hun? Did ya get enough to drink hun? Did you sleep well hun? Such a good looking family we have. Oh, we had a good time didn’t we?” Yes, Paw Paw, we certainly did. And we thank you. Rest in Peace with Nina. We love you.
