Richard W. “Dick” Long, 83, of Westminster, died Tuesday, April 5, 2011, at Carroll Hospice’s Dove House. Born June 14, 1927, in Gettysburg, Pa., he was the son of the late Nevin Carver and Anne Marie Will Long. He was the husband of Helen Aileen Long, his wife of 62 years.

He was a graduate of Westminster High School and joined the Navy in 1944. He had worked at Black & Decker Inc., as a supervisor, before retiring. He was a member of St. John Catholic Church in Westminster. He enjoyed traveling, golfing, bowling and fishing.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughters Lisa Anne Deyerberg and Janetta Jo Jayman, both of Westminster; and grandchildren Laura Aileen Deyerberg, and John Richard and Joseph Anthony Jayman, all of Westminster. He was predeceased by a sister, Jean Marie Deardorff; and a brother, Nevin Joseph Long.
