Richard Kellner was born in Manhattan, NY in May of 1965 to the late Isidore Kellner and Joan Basson Kellner. Rick passed away on March 6, 2021. He is preceded in death by his brother, Martin Kellner. Rick was a loving father to Lucas Riley Kellner, devoted partner to Arlette P. Constantino, loving brother to Jeffrey P. Kellner, uncle to Allison and Annika Kellner, and friend to Jacqueline Riley, mother of Lucas Kellner.
Rick graduated high school from Bronx School of Science in 1983, and went on to earn his degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of Massachusetts Amherst in 1987. Rick started his career with Raytheon Missiles and Defense, and later became interested in energy efficiency.
Rick moved to San Francisco in 2000, nudged by his entrepreneurial spirit and an interest in more time with lifelong friends. He founded and operated several businesses before finding his calling as a baker. He enrolled in San Francisco Baking Institute and opened Feel Good Bakery in 2004. Rick took great pride in offering Alameda and the Bay Area baked goods, prepared with quality ingredients and artisan execution. He was also very proud and so grateful to a dedicated and skillful staff that made Feel Good Bakery such a success. Jackie joined him at the bakery in 2006, and together they expanded the bakery and brought Lucas into the world in 2008. Although, baking was his passion, his greatest joy was spending time with Lucas.
Rick had many interests and enjoyed a healthy lifestyle in addition to fitness. When he was not managing the bakery, he could be found gardening, hiking, snowboarding, yoga or shooting hoops with his son. He enjoyed cooking from the garden and “Feel Good “was part of his mantra; living a healthy, sustainable and organic lifestyle. Rick and Arlette enjoyed time together and often gathered with friends and family. Rick cherished his longtime friendships, taking trips to Tahoe with his buddies, carving down the mountain or enjoying an evening of live music.
Feel Good Rick will be missed by all who loved him, and found joy and laughter in his company. Fly high, hang loose and Namaste, Ricky.
