Richard Rivera was born in Manhattan, New York to Frank and Maria Rivera on June 2, 1933. He attended Samuel Gompers High School where he studied various trades. He married Inez Ramirez on October 11, 1952, in Bronx, New York, and was married for 38 years until her death in 1990. On August 24, 1991, he married Mercedes Rodriguez and they were married for 29 years until his death.
Richard Rivera was a hard-working, self-made entrepreneur in the sewing machine attachment industry and was also a real estate broker. He was a man of deep faith, was committed to helping others, and was an active member of his church. He was devoted to and loved his family above all else.
Richard Rivera is survived by: his wife, Mercedes Rivera, his daughters Inez, Ruth, and Melissa, and son-in-law Greg and his grandchildren Ian and his wife Kate, Inez, Justin, Johnny, Dylan, and his great-granddaughter, Lily. He is also survived by his brother, Anthony, his sister-in-law, Marie, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
