Richard Riddick Harrell, 79, of Suffolk, Virginia, gained his place in heaven on April 13, 2024. He was born in Suffolk, Virginia to the late Robert Wesley Harrell and Mary Elizabeth Harrell. He is predeceased by his wife and mother of his children, Judy Perry Harrell, his daughter-in-law, Camille Harrell, and his brother, Robert W. Harrell, Jr.Richard is survived by his wife, Nora Dalby Butler; son, Ryan Everett Harrell, and granddaughters, Peyton and Anne-Perry; daughter, Nicole Janel Harrell (Eley) and grandsons, Parker and E; and daughter, Dena Harrell Bailey (Kevin) and grandchildren Madi, Kevin, Sadie Grace and Seth.Richard attended Whaleyville High School and Hampden-Sydney College. He owned and operated Suffolk Forest Products for over 30 years. He served on Suffolk City Council and was actively involved in his community, including the Suffolk Jaycees. Richard enjoyed golf, fishing, time at Nags Head and Topsail Beach with family and friends, Yankees baseball, and flying a plane to horse races. He found immense joy in each of his grandchildren. Richard loved to tell a good story and laugh all the way through. He especially loved chocolate cake.
