Richard Alan “Rick” Ryan, 56, of Galesburg, died on Saturday, October 20, 2018, 8:45 PM, at his home.Rick was born on May 21, 1962, in Peoria.
He was the son of Donald and Helen (Newman) Ryan. Rick is survived by his mother of Peoria; four children, Heather Howell, Cody Ryan, both of Peoria and Trevor Ryan-Maurice, Jordan Ryan-Maurice, both of Minnesota; sisters, Karen (Danny) Wakeland of Peoria and Debra Sloan of Galesburg; one granddaughter, Skylar Maurice; a niece, Sabrina Barraza-Sloan and a nephew, Jeremy Wakeland; a great niece and several great nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, and a brother, Michael Ryan.Richard attended Peoria schools and Chillicothe High School and later received a certificate in Horticulture. He worked for Rail Road Traffic Company as a Signal Maintainer. Rick volunteered for the FISH Mobile Food Pantry at the First Church of God and Heartland Health Care Nursing Home. Rick also worked for Dr. Tuttle at the Century Estates, where he helped to maintain the grounds and the trailers. In his spare time, Rick loved to hunt and fish.
He especially loved to attend family cookouts and visit with family and friends.
