Richard P. “Dick” Campau, age 73 of Midland went to be with his Lord after a short battle with cancer at his home surrounded by his family. The son of the late Peter R. and Minnie (Barto) Campau was born August 19, 1935 in Midland where he was raised and educated graduating from Midland High School in 1954. Dick was employed at a pipefitter with The Dow Chemical Co, until his retirement in 1990 after 35 years of service. On June 23, 1956 in Auburn Dick married the former Hubertine “Herbie” LeBeau. Dick enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, and spending time with his family at their cabin in the Upper Peninsula.
He was a member of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church and Hiawatha Sportsman Club.Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Hubertine Campau, sons, Peter R. Campau and special friend, Rene Miller of Sanford, Thomas A. Campau and special friend, Sue Breitsprecher of Raleigh, North Carolina; grandchildren, Courtney, Cameron, Christey Campau, Krystle (Tony) Edwards, Kandi & Kurt Campau; great grandchildren, Austin & Justin Edwards; sisters, Myrtle R. Landosky, Grace Schoenbine and husband, Art Grzegorczyk, Mildred (Mervin) Sirrine; brothers & sisters in law, Leonard (Maxine) LeBeau, Alice Cliff, Mary Kay (Jim) Machelski; many nieces and nephews.
Dick was preceded in death by 3 sisters and 4 brothers in law. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Monday May 18, 2009 at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church. Fr. Rick Filary will officiate. Rite of Committal will follow in New Calvary Mausoleum.
