Richard Norman Wesner went to be with his Lord on February 22, 2014. He was preceded in death by the love of his life and wife for 62 years, Irene Kurbis on June 16, 2010.

Richard was born to Dorothy and Gustav Wesner on July 11, 1928. Together he and Irene raised three daughters; Joan Pope Tom of Fort Gratiot, MI, Judy Jorgensen Mark of Kirkland, WA of Bend, OR, and June Moran Rick of Novi, MI. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Annaliese Pope, Hailey Jorgensen, Ali Jorgensen, Evan Moran, and RJ Moran.

Richard also leaves behind two surviving brothers, Fred Wesner Shirley and Jim Wesner Janet, sisters-in-law Betty Wesner, Anne Kurbis, and Joanne Kurbis as well as special friends Jerri Carrott and Terri Wait and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his younger brother, Arden Wesner. Richard joined the Army in February of 1946. A few years later he met the love of his life, Irene and together they built memories for 62 years. He was employed by the Whirlpool Corporation before making home in Portage, MI and working for General Motors.

During their time in Portage, Richard and Irene were active members of the Lighthouse Community Church in Oshtemo, MI. Richard’s legacy can be summed up in three words…service, compassion, and generosity. He served his God fervently, treated everyone with compassion, and was generous with his knowledge, his service, and his accomplishments.
