Those left to honor Marty’s memory are his two sons, Nathan and Nicholas Smith, both of Newton; brother, Steve (Lenae) Smith of Des Moines, Iowa; and sister, Traci (Tab) Newbury of Urbandale, Iowa; his four nieces, Erin and Katie Newbury and Breanna and Mariah Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard S. and Norma L. (Marten) Smith; and maternal and paternal grandparents.
Marty served his country in the U. S. Navy from 1981-1985.
Marty was a graduate of Newton High School in 1981.
Marty was a Production Coordinator for Multi Packaging & Printing. He had also worked for 16 years in the Payroll Department at the Maytag Corporation.
