Richard Maurice Daly, of Athens, Michigan passed away on January 24th in Battle Creek. He was a graduate of Pennfield High School and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering from Western Michigan University. He worked at Clark Equipment in Battle Creek for 27 years and upon closing worked at Morgan Olson in Sturgis for 27 years. After retirement, he worked at Menards part time.

Richard was the first born son of Maurice and Dorothy Daly. He was the first member of the family to earn a college degree. Richard enjoyed the sport of softball his entire life and even played in the Softball Senior Olympics in Utah. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and his cats and dogs. Richard was a loving husband to his wife, Sandra, and they spent many years together traveling and riding their motorcycles.

He was a life time member of the Harley Owners Group (HOG). Richard was also a loving father to his two daughters, Kelly (Rick) Beechy and Janie (Dennis) Sare. He spent many hours passing his skills of softball to his daughters and was very proud of their accomplishments in the sport.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra, of Athens his mother, Dorothy Daly, of Battle Creek, brothers David (Dee) from Kalamazoo and Larry (Carissa) of Ohio, his wife, his daughters Kelly (Rick) Beechy of Ohio, and Janie (Dennis) Sare of Battle Creek, grandchildren, Amanda, Allyson, Jaret, and Emily and many nieces and nephews and many friends he made over the years that were very special to him.
