Richard passed away Monday, November 1, 2021 at Close to Home Assisted Living at the age of 86 years. He was born June 8, 1935 to the late Friedrich and Berta (Konetzki) Kunkel. Richard was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Frankenlust for many years. On November 12, 1960 he married Patricia and she preceded him in death on April 28, 2018 after 57 years of marriage. Richard was the former owned and operated of Bay City Towing/Mister Towing from where he retired. He was also a charter member of the Frankenlust Township fire department, Bay County Sherriff Department Reserve and Civil Air Patrol. He was also a member of the Valley Arrow Club and the Eagles Club. In his spare time, he enjoyed flying airplanes, camping with family, enjoyed working and tinkering, making something out of nothing.
Richard is survived by his sons, Keith (Karen) and Steve Kunkel; grandchildren, Kyler, Kody, Steven II Kunkel, Nathen (Kayla) and Justen Torres; great grandchildren, Natheniel, Leah, Lelan, Emersyn, Jaylyn and Oakley; brother, Erwin (Ursula); special friend, Tina and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Lucy (Herb) Berthold.
