Richard “Rick” Kellogg Jr., 35, died April 4, 2010. Rick was born in Canton, Ohio to Deanna and Richard Kellogg Sr.
He was raised in Carrollton, here he went to school. In high school he was very active, he played baseball, basketball and served as Senior Prom King. Rick joined the US Army and served four years active duty. He continued his to serve his country as a National Guard Soldier. After his four years with the Army he attended and graduated from Kent University with a Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice.
He was hired by Flagstaff Police Department in 2004. Upon completion of the Police Academy he was immediately deployed to Iraq for Operation Enduring Freedom as a Military Police officer for the National Guard. Rick returned and served the community of Flagstaff as Patrol Officer, Field Training Officer and Motor Officer. He was a decorated soldier and officer receiving a number of Awards.
Rick was selfless in his life; he was everyone’s best friend. He had a very contagious smile and was always great with children. His hobbies include running, riding his motorcycle and enjoying fun times with friends.
He is survived by his mother Deanna Kellogg of Canton, Ohio; siblings Robert Long of Canton, Ohio, Rebecca Moore (Edward) of Carrollton, Ohio, and Ryan Kellogg of Waynesburg, Ohio. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and his large PD family. Rick’s life has touched many and he will be greatly missed.
