Richard J. “Hank” Barthold, 79, of Fountain Hill, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 28, 2007, in VNA Hospice of St. Luke’s in Lower Saucon Twp. He was the husband of the late Bernice C. (Toth) who passed away in 1993. Born in Fountain Hill, he was the son of the late George and Stella (Hetrick) Barthold. Hank was employed by the Bethlehem Steel Corp. for 35 years and retired in 1983 as a Staff Engineer in the Construction Engineering Dept. He proudly served his country in the Army. He was a 1947 graduate of Fountain Hill High School and later became one of the top pitchers in the fast pitch softball league in the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s for different teams including the Fountain Hill Hose Co. He was also a coach for Fountain Hill Little League. Survivors: sons Richard A. and his wife Jean of Nazareth and William J. and his wife Debra of Macungie; daughter Karen Sue Kline of Fleetwood; 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was also predeceased by his brothers George, Norman and Harold.
