Richard H. Dunavan, 84, of Ottawa died June 15, at Ottawa Regional Hospital and Healthcare Center.

Dick was born July 30, 1925, in Normal, IL, to Frank and A. Hope (Hixon) Dunavan. He married Louise Sims on July 3, 1954, in the First United Methodist Church in Ottawa. He was a 1943 graduate of OTHS and attended the University of Illinois. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII, serving in the South Pacific from 1943-1946. He was a civil engineer for the Illinois Department of Transportation for 31 years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Ottawa Elks Club, Ottawa Boat Club, Engineers Rod and Gun Club and IAHE (Illinois Assoc. of Highway Engineer).

He is survived by his wife, Louise Dunavan; one son, Mark Dunavan of Middleton, WI; one daughter, Sandy Dunavan (Steve Zak) of Saline, MI.; and four grandchildren, Corey and Brian Dunavan and Miranda and Daniel Zak.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Barbara Mills and one brother in infancy.
