Richard Franklin Gore, Jr., of Manassas VA, died suddenly on Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2018, at NOVANT Prince William Hospital, of sepsis caused by a streptococcus infection. He was 64 years old, having been born Nov. 4, 1953, to the late Richard F. Gore, Sr., and Rebecca E. Cook Gore of Castleton, VA. A sister, Rebecca Ellen Gore, also predeceased him. He leaves behind his grieving wife, Deborah, and three daughters: Janel Gore Armitage, his daughter from a previous marriage who currently resides in Turkey, and Margot and Marisa Gore of Manassas. Richard was a graduate of Rappahannock High School, following which he attended Germanna Community College. He spent most of his adult career working for John Deere dealerships, in the footsteps of his father, until a disabling auto accident in 1995 left him unable to work. He then spent several years as a stay-at-home dad with his younger daughters, Margot and Marisa. Afterwards, until his health and impaired mobility once again interfered, Richard was able to work part-time as a substitute teacher and tutor, loving to help young people and touching many lives. He was an avid reader, being particularly fond of historical volumes and biographies. He was passionate about aviation and the space program. He also enjoyed watching sports and was an enthusiastic fan of baseball and the Washington Nationals. Other pleasures included playing board games with his family and watching murder mysteries on BBC. Richard was a loving and spontaneous husband and father, taking pleasure in his family and enjoying any activity which brought everyone together. His family will never forget the joy he felt and shared during every Christmas season. The loss of Richard Gore will be deeply felt and mourned by his loving family and friends. We will never forget him, and we will never cease to miss him.
