Richard E. Allen of Chester, NE the son of Clifford and Jessie Mae (Raines) Allen Sr. was born March 30, 1936 in Cincinnati, OH. He departed this life Thursday November 19, 2009 at his home in Chester, NE after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 73 years.
Richard grew up in the Cincinnati area and graduated from Cincinnati High School. After graduation he entered the United States Navy, serving from 1954 to 1958. After returning home Dick attended Xavier College in Cincinnati and later married Mary Ann and this union was blessed with the birth of five children. Dick married Nancy Schultz in 1995 in Las Vegas, NV. From 1995 to 2005 together they raised nine foster children. They loved the children and even tried to adopt, but were not able to do so.
Dick worked as a sales person for the Allen Case Inc. This was the company he started and owned.
Dick was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hebron, NE
He is preceded in death by his parents, and sister-in-law Carol Boettjer.
He is survived by his wife Nancy of Chester, NE, three sons; Richard C. of Minneapolis, MN, Daniel J. and Tony both of Chicago, IL, two daughters; Margaret Fightmaster of Lawrence, KY, and Angela Ashford of Cincinnati, OH, brothers-in-law; Mark Boettjer of Chicago, IL and Fred Smith of Atlanta, GA, ten grandchildren, special friends John and Lana Gillett of Chester, NE, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
