Richard “Dick” Ludwig, age 90, of Corwith passed away on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at Westview Care Center in Britt.  Richard George Ludwig, the son of John and Agnes (Lichter) Ludwig, was born on June 12, 1930 in Algona, Iowa.

He graduated from Corwith High School in 1948. After graduation, Dick served in Japan with the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a 60 year American Legion Member. On August 7, 1956, Dick was united in marriage to Mary Lou Meyer in St. Benedict. Dick loved being a farmer and enjoyed fishing trips to Minnesota and Canada. He owned and operated a steam engine, and after his retirement from farming became a steam engineer for the Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad for several years. Dick had many beloved dogs; especially his bulldog Muggs. He often would find orphaned wild animals that he raised as pets.

Left to cherish Dick’s memory are his children, Allen (Lori) Ludwig of Corwith, Glenda (Mike) Mueller of Iowa City, Ramon (Leslie) Ludwig of Algona and James (Jennifer) Ludwig of Wesley; grandchildren, Nathan (Kelli) Mueller of Solon, Matthew Mueller of Chicago, IL, Joseph Mueller of Iowa City, Christopher (Emily) Ludwig of Wesley, Landon (JoHanna) Ludwig of Algona, Maggie Ludwig (fiancé Bryce Vorland) of Spencer, Sam Ludwig (Gabriella Martens) of Algona, Nicholas, Katie and John Ludwig of Wesley; four great grandchildren, Eleanor and Amelia Andresen-Mueller and Forrest and Louise Ludwig and brothers, William (Janice) Ludwig of Corwith and Gary (Joan) Ludwig of Corwith. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Agnes Ludwig; wife, Mary Lou in 2020 and father and mother-in-law, Frank and Julia Meyer.
