Richard “Dick” Allen Schmidt, age 78, of Three Oaks, passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2015.Dick was born in Three Oaks, Michigan on March 6, 1937 the son of Alvin and Helen (Reifshneider) Schmidt.Dick is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Ronald Schmidt.Dick will be remembered for his love of sports and the outdoors.
He was a lifelong avid hunter and fisherman. Dick was an Allstate basketball and baseball player for Three Oaks High School. He had received a tryout letter for the Detroit Tigers. He also played basketball for Western Michigan University.
Dick had a love for his family especially his children and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.Dick is survived by his children: Ronda McGreevy from St Ignace, Michigan, Dan (Lynn) Schmidt from Harlingen, Texas, Daryl (Julie Schwarz) Schmidt from Sawyer, Michigan, Cally Schmidt from Atlanta, Georgia; his four grandchildren: Ian, Allen, Brian, Gregory; his one great-grandchild; his sisters: Ruth Ann (Harley) Vollrath from Paw Paw, Michigan, Roxie Poole from Altamonte Springs, Florida; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
