Richard DeOrnellas, 89, of Jacksonville, died Saturday, Oct. 17, 2015, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

He was born May 18, 1926, in Jacksonville, the son of Arthur and Cora Jane Henderson DeOrnellas. He married Lucille E. Pace on Jan. 19, 1947, in Jacksonville and she preceded him in death on Oct. 22, 2004.

He is survived by two sons and a daughter, Robert (Karen) DeOrnellas of Jacksonville, Cindy Keat of Rochester, MI and Jack (Jacque) DeOrnellas of Murrayville; nine grandchildren, Tony (Penny) DeOrnellas, Ron (Kyla) DeOrnellas, Pam (Brock) Barber, Soo (Eric) Harris, Kris (Meagan) Keat, Tiffany Keat, Amanda (Greg) Franklin, A.J. DeOrnellas and Allan DeOrnellas; and twelve great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Randy and Dickie; one granddaughter, Heather Keat; his son-in-law, Dennis Keat; and eight brothers and two sisters.

Mr. DeOrnellas was Morgan County Road District 7 Commissioner for 25 years. He was Leader of the Northside Ag 4-H Club for over 40 years. He was active with Prairie Land Heritage Museum, Morgan County Pork Producers, and the Illinois Hampshire Breeders Assn. Richard had also served as President of the Morgan County Fair Board. He and Lucille had served as Election Judges for many years, and they owned and operated the Side Trax, LTD Basket Shop.
