Richard D. Tomes    “Dick”

Palmyra:  Passed away on Wednesday evening, November 8, 2017, at the age of 71.  Dick was born on December 3, 1945 to the late Letta and Albert Tomes.  He was predeceased by his brothers, Thomas and Charles Tomes; and nephew Jim Johnson.  He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Roberta “Bertie” Tomes; sister Linda (Larry) DeClerck, many nieces, nephews and friends.

Dick worked for many years as a machinist with Gleason works before he needed to step back for health reasons.  He then began a second career, closer to home, working with the Breen family of grocery stores.  He enjoyed staying busy and visiting with people.  Dick had a number of interests that included woodworking, music, guns and artwork.  He was an artist and engaged the techniques of wood burning to enhance the beauty of his work.  He liked country music and enjoyed playing keyboard and guitar.  Dick also had a fondness for tractors and guns. He and Bertie were best of friends and enjoyed spending time together.  Together, they enjoyed their nieces and nephews.  Dick will be missed but fondly remembered by all those who are better because of his presence in their lives.
