Richard professed a Hope in Christ at an early age, at Saint John M.B.C. He later moved to Indianapolis, Indiana. He joined Agape Apostolic Faith Assembly.
Richard went to High School in Ripley, Mississippi. He graduated from Consolidated High School. Richard attended Junior College in West Point, Mississippi at Mary Holmes Junior College. Later he transferred to Knoxville College in Knoxville, Tennessee. He was employed at 7up Bottle Company for 35 years.
Richard departed this world on July 16, 2019 at the age of seventy years old. He was preceded in death father, Noverta Troy Simmons; mother, Dinah Lee Simmons; sister, Jamie Garnell Boyd; brother, Billy Troy Lee Simmons; and brother-in-law Axzandra Cobbs
Richard leaves to cherish his memories a wife, Sharron Simmons; his two sons, Richard Deon Simmons (Ebony) and Ashley Leroy Simmons (Shacolya); sister, Wilma Jean Cobb; eleven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
