Richard Clifton Peck, 63, of Cromwell, took his last waterskiing “front flip” and entered heaven on Saturday, May 2nd at Middlesex Hospital with his beloved wife, Mary, at this side. Born in 1952, he was the son of Helen (Brenner) Peck of Cromwell and the late Elmer Clifton Peck.
Rich was a graduate of Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He retired in 2007 from Northeast Utilities where he managed the corrosion, chemistry and standard laboratories. Rich was an active, avid athlete and enjoyed snow skiing, snowmobiling, target shooting and golf. But his passion rested with waterskiing, as of late, hydro foiling where he landed and skied away his first “front flip”. Each winter, Rich, Mary, and Henry, their treasured Boston Terrier, would tow their boat to Florida for a winter of water sports.
Along with his wife and soul mate, Mary, and his mother, Helen, Rich is survived by his mother-in-law Mary Kowalski, cousin, Allan Peck and his wife Barbara (Mary’s sister), sister-in-law, Bette Arnold (Richard), brother-in-law Dr. David Kowalski (Eileen), nieces Mary DeVault (Stephen), Kim Kowalski (Patrick), Patty Higgins (Matthew), and Sara McLaughlin (Nathaniel). Rich fought a long, intense ten year battle with cancer – every day with a positive attitude, a sense of humor and love of life. Mary would like to extend her gratitude to Dr. Jeffrey Kamradt for his compassionate care.
