GROVELAND – Richard Ciaburri, 87, longtime Groveland resident, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 16, 2017.
He was born in Everett on December 9, 1929, the youngest son of Francesco and Theresa Ciaburri. Served proudly in the U.S. Navy for several years until being honorably discharged. He then married his beloved wife Gertrude (Middleton) Ciaburri, with whom he just celebrated 68 years of marriage on September 24.
Richard worked as a roofer while he was a young husband and father, also as a mechanic at Revere Sugar in Charlestown and retired as manager at Heritage Wholesalers, Malden.
He was an avid sportsman and played softball for many years in Haverhill leagues, also enjoyed bowling and he took up skiing in his 60’s, then golf became his passion in his later years.
Richard was an honest and proud man that worked hard his whole life and was a hero to all his children. As the patriarch of his family, he loved his wife, his three daughters and his twenty-six grandchildren and great-grandchildren and will be greatly missed every single day.
In addition to his wife, Richard’s other family members include his loving children Gayle Bilapka and husband Edward, Dawn Marie Shay and husband Timothy and Susan Larmarca and husband Carmen; cherished grandchildren Kristen Hall, Danyel Cote, Chad Callan, Mia Lyons, Keith Ciaburri, Richard White, Matthew White, Brian Robinson, Cote McMinoway; great-grandchildren Alex, Gage, Ty, Laura, Akeira, Isabella C, Cash, Emma, Cameron, Kayla, Chad Jr., Isabella W, Grace, Evelyn, Theodore, Luzian, and Cecilia; sister Florence O’Neil of Lynnfield; and was the brother of the late Vera Kennedy, Leonard Ciaburri and Francis Ciaburri; sisters and brother in-law, Anne and Joseph Sperlinga of Saugus, Claire Linnan of West Yarmouth, and Marylou O’Keefe of Groveland; and many, many nieces and nephews.
