Richard C. Neel, age 87, of Hanoverton, died on Monday, November 10, 2014 at the Wheeling Memorial Park Hospital in Wheeling, West Virginia. He was born August 17, 1927 in East Rochester, Ohio, the son of the late Clyde and Clara (Knutti) Neel. Richard was a graduate of Augusta High School. He retired from Transco and had worked for 12 years in Newton Falls and Sterling of Salem for 20 years and previously worked for Mullins Manufacturing Plant #3. Dick was a member of the First Christian Church in Hanoverton. He was a member of the Sandy Valley/Lisbon Lodge and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and the Korean War. He enjoyed going to auctions and buying antiques. His wife, June (Dick) Neel, whom he married October 18, 1958, preceded him in death on June 30, 2014. A sister, Mary Jane Bingle, also preceded him in death. Survivors include a daughter, Kimberly (John) Chestnut Jr. of Hanoverton; one sister, Catherine (Richard) Davis of Florida; and three grandchildren, Johnna, Andrea and Joseph.
