Richard C. McCrea died August 26, 2017 at the age of 92. He lived in Ridgewood, NJ for many years before moving to Cedar Crest, Pompton Plains, NJ. He was predeceased by his wife Mary (2014) and by his daughter Sally (2009). He is survived by his daughter Susan of Willis, VA, his son Richard and wife Pat of Tampa, FL, his son Thomas and wife Lisa of Paramus, NJ, his daughter Mary Jane and husband Walter of Greenwich, CT and daughter Erin and husband Gene of Wyckoff, NJ. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Richard left high school and joined the US Navy to serve in WWII. He received a Purple Heart in the Battle for Okinawa, April 16, 1945. After military service, he was a Seaside Heights Lifeguard for 7 years and obtained a degree from Rutgers University. He later obtained a Master’s Degree from Newark College of Engineering. He worked for the Bendix Corporation and later the Department of Defense before retiring in 1993. Richard lived a full and rewarding life. He loved reading, skiing, swimming, and being a Eucharistic Minister. He will be deeply missed.
