Richard N. “Blackie” Black, 86, of Bethlehem, passed away on Friday, June 6, 2014, in St. Luke’s Hospital. He and his wife, Nancy R. (Morgan) Black, celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary in September 2013. Born in Summit Hill, Carbon County, he was the son of the late Nelson and Margaret (Domenico) Black. Richard was a graduate of Summit Hill High School and attended Bloomsburg University. He served his country in the US Navy from 1946-1948. Richard worked for the PB&NE Railroad and Mack Truck, both for 30 years until retiring in 1990. He was an avid golfer and was a member of the BVFHA, N.E. Wanderers AA, Jeff’s and 540 Democratic Club and the Monocacy Field and Stream Association. Richard was also a member of the Church of the Manger UCC in Bethlehem. Survivors: his loving wife, Nancy; daughters, Debra Black, Richele Abraham, Dawn Bartek (Mike) and Luann Black, all of Bethlehem; 6 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. Richard was preceded in death by a son Richard M. Black, granddaughter Jamie Lee Abraham and sister Betty Smith.
