CANTON – BAXTER – Richard W. Baxter, 76, of Dowd Avenue, passed away on Monday, September 18, 2006. He was the loving husband of Marjorie (Marhefki) Baxter for 52 years. Born June 9, 1930 in Barkhamsted, CT; the son of the late Wilfred and Mary (Neher) Baxter. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was employed by Pratt and Whitney for over 20 years and later retired from the United States Post Office at the age of 65. He was a member of the American Legion and loved golf and sports. In addition to his wife, Marjorie, he is survived by two daughters; Kathleen Baxter of Washington, CT and Doreen Stevens of Canton, two grandchildren; Brandis Peterson and Shannan Carmichael, both of ME, a special nephew; Robert Baxter of Winsted and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by two brothers; William and Stewart.
