Richard A. Anderson, a long time resident of Norwalk, passed away on February 12, 2011 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. He was 87. He was the beloved husband to Frances H. Anderson of over sixty-two years.

Mr. Anderson was born February 17, 1923 in his family’s home in Noroton Heights. He served proudly in from 1943-1945 as a photographer assigned to the 3rd Medical Museum and Arts Detachment and received the Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon. Mr. Anderson was also an avid model railroader, an aviation enthusiast and enjoyed tinkering with automobiles.

Along with his wife, he is survived by two sons, Randolph Anderson and his wife Kathy of Danbury and Russell Anderson and his wife Carol of Virginia and three daughters, Mary Brown and her husband Allen of Simsbury, Susan Rosso and her husband Michael of Norwalk and Diane Sampson and her husband Andrew of Huntington, 11 grandchildren, six great grandchildren and his sister Edna Belle Mills of Wilton. He was predeceased by his son, Richard Anderson II, his parents Edna and Joseph Anderson and his brother Joseph Anderson II.
