Age 77, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2015, with his family by his side. Richard was born on August 27, 1938 in Chicago, IL, to the late Russell and Vivian (Revore) Van Antwerp. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean Conflict, and was a life member of the American Legion. He retired after 30 ¾ years from James River.
Richard was a people person, he never met a stranger. He loved riding his motorcycle and family time was a priority for him. Richard was a good husband and father and will be greatly missed by his wife, Patricia Van Antwerp; his children, Sandy (Roger) Evink of Otsego, Randy Van Antwerp of Rogers, AR, Jodie Zimmerman of Grand Rapids, Richard Van Antwerp, Jr. of Kalamazoo, Rodney (Kimberly) Van Antwerp of Kalamazoo, Wendy Smith of Indiana, and Sara (Jimmy) Payne of Kalamazoo; 19 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are Richard’s siblings, Coral (Harold) Dunlap of Allegan, Barb (Bernie) Prat of Plainwell, Erna (Lonnie) Vincent of Kalamazoo, and Russell (Lucille) Van Antwerp of Rogers, AR. Richard was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Van Antwerp.
