Richard A. Nichols, 59, of Leominster passed away Monday November 2, 2009 in his home surrounded by his family and friends after his courageous battle with cancer. He was born on January 14, 1950 in Amesbury, MA to Victor and Barbara (McDougal) Nichols. Richard was a graduate of Lowell High School Class of 1968. After graduating he enlisted in the United States Army and served a tour in Vietnam from 1969 to 1970. He earned the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Expert Badge M-16 Rifle. Richard worked for Wang as a Purchasing Manager, owned and operated his own landscaping business and for the past 8 years worked as a truck driver for The McKesson Company. Richard was a avid lover of the outdoors.
