Rhonda Kay Mathews, 60, of Monroe, NC, went to heaven on July 19, 2018. She was born on July 30, 1957, in Seward, NE to Norman and Marjorie Beard. She grew up in Amarillo, TX and graduated from Palo Duro High School in 1975. She married Mark Mathews in 1980. They raised three wonderful children, Randi, Rob, and Missy, just outside of Tulsa, OK. She enjoyed volunteering for events at school and watching the kids play soccer. She moved to the area of Charlotte, NC in 2011 to be near her children. Rhonda’s heart beat for her children and grandchildren. Whether she was on the sideline of the soccer field, driving carpool, or rocking one of the grandbabies, she had the unmistakeable glow of a proud mother and grandma.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her in-laws, Walter and Wanda Mathews, and her son, Gregory Maxwell. She is survived by her brothers, Buster and Ben Beard, her sisters, Cathy Wheeler, Sue Loveday, and Alisha Beard, her son, Brian Maxwell, her children, her sons-in-law, Jack James and Bo Grant, her daughter-in-law, Bethany Mathews, and her grandchildren, Allie and Tyler James, Conway Grant, and Grayson Mathews. She was loved by so many more who called her mom and grandma.
