Rhoda J. Gump, 91, resident of Silver City, passed away Sunday, November 13, 2011 at Silver City Care Center.
Born August 16, 1920 in Las Vegas, NM, she grew up in Marion, Indiana. After marriage in 1944 to Robert Gump, they settled in Albuquerque, where they resided until 1978 when they moved to Bosque Farms. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Albuquerque. She worked for Hallmark Cards for 18 years and volunteered many hours at the Bosque Farms Library and Senior Center. She was an avid gardener and seamstress.
She is survived by a son, Edward Bruce Gump and wife Sara of Hudson, NY; a daughter, Gigi Shoaf and husband Doug of Silver City; 2 grandchildren, Valerie Trujillo of Colorado Springs, CO and Robert Shoaf of Silver City and 4 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father Dwight Sheffield; her mother Gertrude Knowlton; husband Robert Paul Gump and sister Roena Sheffield Culbertson.
