Rex Lee Ashcraft, 75, of Three Oaks, Michigan died Thursday morning, December 12, 2013 at Franciscan Communities Hospice at St. Anthony Hospital, Michigan City, Indiana. Rex was born April 5, 1938 in Three Oaks to Glenn and Avanelle (Martin) Ashcraft. After high school he served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Unit.

On December 21, 1968 he married Carol Linsemier in Three Oaks. Rex repaired commercial sewing machines for a seat belt manufacturer in Michigan City and for Gerber Babywear in Three Oaks. He enjoyed working in his shop doing automotive body work and restoring antique tractors. Rex was a member of the River Valley Antique Power Association and the Randall Couchman American Legion Post 204.

He enjoyed hunting and loved time spent with his family.Survivors include his wife Carol; children Rexalee (Steve) Gordon of Three Oaks; James Ashcraft of New Carlisle, Indiana; Todd Ashcraft of LaPorte, Indiana ; Stacey (Scott) Rossen of Williamstown, Vermont; and Brandi Ashcraft of Kalamazoo; grandchildren, Jason, Trent, Kyle, Nicholas, Marty, Brandon and Dakota and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his grandson, James R. Ashcraft, sister Martha Jane McCleary and brothers Jack, Clarence and Dave.
