Reverend Father Edmund H. Tiedeman, 81, died Thursday April 1, 2021 at Journey Senior Services in Carroll, IA. Edmund Henry Tiedeman, the son of Edmund John and Rose (Mullen) Tiedeman was born April 27, 1939 in Fonda where he was raised and educated, graduating from Our Lady of Good Counsel School in 1958.  He attended college at Loras and Mount St. Bernard Seminary in Dubuque.  He was ordained June 4, 1966 at the Cathedral of the Epiphany in Sioux City, IA.  Father Tiedeman then obtained his Master’s Degree at Creighton University in Omaha, NE. During his years as a parish priest and educator in many schools, Father Tiedeman served in the communities of Danbury, Emmetsburg, Alton, Granville, Carroll, Fort Dodge, Dayton, Willey, Madrid, Woodward, Scranton, Mapleton, Oto,  West Bend, Mallard, Lidderdale and Glidden.   “Father T”, as he was affectionately called, was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He loved traveling with his brother priests and his relatives.  While living in West Bend, he was a special friend and regular attendee of the Villager Pharmacy “coffee group” where he was truly a friend to all.  Father T supported and followed Notre Dame football and all sports at Iowa State University and especially Carroll Kuemper.  Fr. Ed spent many years in the Willey and Carroll communities while serving multiple generations at Carroll Kuemper High School. He loved all the people in his parish communities. They or each one of you returned God’s love to him by welcoming him into their family relationships and homes. Fr. Ed and his family are grateful to the Carroll, Willey and Fonda communities for the love and care shown him since his retirement, especially this last year. Survivors include his brothers and sisters: Patty and Lary Gunville, John and Cynthia Tiedeman, Joe Tiedeman, Bill and Jeanne Tiedeman, Rita and Mark Fitzgerald, Helen and Russ Weston, Alicia and Dan Hogan, Anthony and Bev Tiedeman, 23 nieces and nephews, 60 great nieces and nephews, 9 great great nieces and nephews as well as many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, James in infancy.
