Rebecca Lynn Aughey, age 51, passed away Friday, April 1, 2022 at Aspirus Riverview Hospital in Wisconsin Rapids after a long struggle with Covid pneumonia complicated by a lifelong struggle with kidney disease.
Becky was born April 5, 1970 in Busan, South Korea and adopted by Robert and Violet Aughey in 1976. She spent her entire life in Wisconsin Rapids, graduated from Lincoln High School in 1988, and studied briefly at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Becky was active in her church and had many friends in her community. Despite her chronic health issues, she embodied a joy for life and loved her family and friends. She was quick to laugh, gracious, kind and generous and always remembered everyone’s birthdays. She enjoyed cooking and loved making cards.
Becky was preceded in death by her parents Violet and Robert Aughey. She is survived by her brothers: Dave (Jill) Aughey of St. Paul, MN, Dan (Judy) Aughey of Madison, WI, Doug Aughey of Wisconsin Rapids, and Mike (Barbara) Aughey of Sun Prairie, WI; and sister, Kris (Minh) Luu of Chicago, IL. She was also a wonderful aunt to numerous nieces and nephews.
We would like to thank those who were such great caregivers to Becky, the ICU staff at Aspirus Riverview Hospital, and the staff of Hilltop Assisted Living. There are so many others to thank and if you were not mentioned and helped with Becky’s care over the years, we offer our deepest appreciation.
Becky never lost faith in her Lord through all the problems and pain she endured and gave even when she had little to give. Her life can best be expressed with James 1:12; Blessed is the one who perserveres under trial because, having stood the test, the person will receive the crown of Life that the Lord has promised to all who love him. We know where you are Becky, we miss you but now you are restored. Rest in the Lord’s joyous peace.
