Rebecca Jamison Metz, 91, of 925 Muddy Fork Road, Martinsville, VA died Sunday, December 27, 2009 at her home. She was born on January 16, 1918 in Henry County, VA to the late Wiley P. Jamison and Loula Burgess Jamison. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Ralph Metz, Sr.; two sisters, Oriene J. Pinkard and Imogene J. Bondurant and three brothers, Benjamin B. Jamison, J. Ansley Jamison and Wiley P. Jamison, Jr. Mrs. Metz was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Martinsville, VA where she was a member of the Wesley Guild and the United Methodist Women’s Circle #2. She was a former Chairman of the Board of Directors of Patrick Henry Community College and former Regent of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), Patrick Henry Chapter. Surviving are her daughter, Winifred “Winnie†S. Metz of Clermont, FL; one son, Gordon R. Metz, Jr. of Henry Co., VA; six grandchildren, Trey Metz, Chris Metz, Leah Metz, Mary C. Wallace, Ann Compson and Ray Compson and eight great-grandchildren, Ben, Myan, Sam, Graeme, Alden, Brennan, Susannah and Josh.
