Surviving are two daughters, Sheila Kandell, (husband, Barry), and Melanie Shorter, both of Ft. Myers, Florida; two grandchildren, Aaron and Tyler Kandell; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Shorter, who died in 2004; three brothers, Wilbur Cleon Gale, Emery Gale and Don Gale; and seven sisters, Opal Talbert, Dorothy Viola, Margaret Garver, Naomi Hurry, Verda Cunningham, Imogene Brown and Deloris Nichols.
